24 hours...

24 hours from now...I'll be in my dress...at the church...and having my picture taken.

It's here. The wedding weekend is finally here!

I've been living the past week.

Hobby Lobby = Happy Bride.
With all the wedding odds and ends, I will say that Hobby Lobby came in huge for our wedding. Everything is on sale. Amazing.

15 Days!

From Blogger Pictures

We went to the court house today to get our marriage licence. Pretty easy - they didn't even ask us a single question. I guess I thought it was going to be a bigger deal than it was but none the less, it's off the to-do list and I can pick it up on Monday. Yeah - 15 days to go!!

This little light...

I will say that even though I couldn't get a candle wall built for our wedding (lack of time and I'm not very good with a hammer), there will be candles.

Lots of candles. To the point that the candle store lady (Doris) knows me when I walk in to buy...you guessed it...more candles.

I have my fingers crossed that the weather will corporate so my very kind friends can help me pull of a special surprise in the garden at the club.

At a wedding, I like to eat...

I need to nail down our reception menu this week and would love any suggestions you have. So at a wedding, you like to eat...

A calming moment...

I have this playing over and over right now while I try to remind myself that I can indeed accomplish our every growing to-do list.

Rentals

I discovered earlier this week that the table clothes that I wanted for the wedding won't be in on time so now I'm back to square one. A bright side in all of this is that I found someone locally that has hundreds and hundreds of table clothes in storage. Tomorrow, I plan to check them out and fingers crossed...hopefully I'll find something good.

Georgia, Boxes, Oh My!

Busy, BUSY, weekend! First, Lenny and I traveled down to Statesboro, Georgia for Anna's wedding. We had a fabulous time and I'll post more pictures soon. I loved how relaxed and laid back her wedding was - she wanted people to have a great time and they did.

I also moved yesterday (Thanks Dad and Mom!) and currently am living out of boxes. Since 2004, I've moved five times so I should be used to it but this time it was different. I finally moved into a house that I'm going to share with my future husband in 32 short days.

Caption: Anna and her dad. Doesn't she look stunning?

Invites!

Huge sigh of relief – invitations are out!

To add an extra touch I thought wax seals would be fun.
Unfortunately, I didn’t realize how long that process would take.
None the less, the invites are out. Whoo!

Reception! Reception! Reception!

This morning I woke up before my 4 a.m. alarm thinking about my wedding reception. To be honest, I have a vague idea in my head at the moment of what the reception will look like. Why? Well, I care more about the actual ceremony than I do the reception.

So during my morning run all I could ponder was the details of a gold and crystal trees that I want to use at the entrance or the decorations at the bar. It's now 5:30 p.m. and I'm still thinking about this stuff!

Thank goodness I have some dear party planning friends meeting me for drinks later or I would go crazy today rethinking all the details.

I did find this awesome idea out of California – a candle wall. I’m going to talk to our rental company tomorrow to see if I can recreate this idea.

I saw this great tutorial on-line today and it gave me inspiration to maybe try this type of program for the wedding. Thoughts?

When Bedazzled Goes To Far..

I saw this on another blog and literally laughed out loud. Who would WEAR this?!? Paging CMT’s Redneck Weddings…

40 days and counting! I can’t believe May 30th is just around the corner and that our big event is upon us. Fingers crossed that I can get everything done!

I promise I'm alive...

Just covered up in work, being sick, moving and wedding plans. This month, Lenny and I celebrate our 10 year anniversary as being "friends" since met way back at the Greenville Braves Stadium in April 2000.
This is what I looked like back then. Who knew you could catch a man in a navy blue Greenville Braves t-shirt?

Bridal Portraits Today!

It feels like Christmas and it's not even the big day yet! The weather wasn't too bad at 4:30 a.m. when I left for boot camp this morning...and the stars were out...so my theory is it should be a bright and sunny day.

In just a few hours, I'll be hanging out with the fabulous Olivia Griffin along with family and friends. I couldn't believe when I picked up my dress yesterday that it filled my entire backseat! Who knew that a simple dress would be so heavy to carry? Fingers crossed that these photos look decent!

Come on Sun!

It's suppose to be cold and dreary the day of my bridal portraits. Sigh.
Here's a photo of the church that I would like to use in Glenn Springs. Fingers crossed that it won't rain on Wednesday!

Hilarious

**If watching at work - watch your volume**

On behalf of men everywhere, this guy says, what we all figured was true about wedding pricing. And his quick, decisive, reaction to the crying fiancé is COMPLETELY accurate as well. Really funny stuff. Enjoy!

"And it only took six days!"

Our favors are half-way done! Can you tell that I'm slightly excited. Here are a few photos (please excuse the messy kitchen) of the progress.

What's left after 44 peeled apples.

Only 10 hours into the process

Getting excited about canning!

The large contraption on the left is our new Steam Canner.

Having a Martha Stewart moment. Thanks Leslie for the apron.

The applebutter getting a steam bath.

The LAST can and it only took 6 days!

Inspired by my late grandmother, I associate apple butter with East Tennessee where my family is from and where this constant transplant considers home. It was easy to do and actually fun as well as educational. Now I know how to “can” for the future – watch out Farmer’s Market.

Getting all dolled up.

Make-up trial today! Luckily there will not be some creepy old lady looking over my shoulder like in this photo so it should be fun.

ALSO - invitations are scheduled to arrive today. Whoo!

2 months!

Seriously, it's only 2 months!?! Mother of Pearl - where did the time go? I feel like I'm officially stepped on a train heading straight for the aisle and I hope I can keep up with the pace. For the past year I’ve tried very hard to ensure that the “wedding” did not take over my life. Instead, I let non-profit benefits do that for me. Well now it’s time to focus…60 days to go and I can’t wait!

What is your song?

What is your must have song at a wedding? Is it "Shout" or "The Electric Slide" that makes your feet move during a wedding reception? Our music list is due to the DJ soon so we're taking request.

Lenny's Tux

We picked out Lenny's tux today at a local shop here in Spartanburg. Now all I need to do is track down 10 other men for their measurements and this can be taken off the to-do list. Yeah!

Our wedding exit?!?

Frankly, I have not really thought about our wedding exit until this morning when a co-worker asked. Due to past fires, I know sparklers are out of the question – sorry sparkler fans but what about other things like rose petals or bubbles?

To typical?

Ironically enough, I found this neat post from Wedding Paper Divas. What do you think of the streamers?

Hmmm...Mac & Cheese

One thought that we've had for the reception menu is upscale southern food and the favorite of conversation is macaroni and cheese. Would you eat mac and cheese at a wedding reception?

Whoo! Wedding Gift – Check!

I’m so, so excited about Lenny’s wedding gift and very thankful for the team of people who helped this frantic bride make it possible.

On other wedding news…I think we finally decided on a favor. Praise the Lord! My grandmother was known for her Apple butter Jam and I plan to recreate the recipe for our guest in little jam jars.

My thought is to have the Apple Butter and buttermilk biscuits at the wedding for people to take home as a midnight snack.

We also have our rings sized and back from the jewelers. Smithworks Jewelers did a wonderful job creating my ring. I can’t wait to wear it – only 82 days!

3 months, 3 weeks and 3 days!

Until the big day! Good news – so far the save the dates have made it out to at least half the list. We’ve had a few questions about the save the date and I thought I’d answer them here.

Is the photo taken in Spartanburg?
Actually no - the photo is of the old Greenville Municipal Stadium near Mauldin, SC. This is where the Greenville Braves played and where Lenny and I met a decade ago this month.

Why the mound shot?
Baseball stadiums remind me of Lenny and after we started dating I took a job in Dallas to teach dance camps across the country. Every city or town that I visited normally had a baseball stadium and so even though were dating long distance I was always thinking about him.

So over the years, I’ve always thought it would be cool to have a photo of us kissing on a pitcher’s mound and this was my only request of our photographer. Of all the photos we took on the field that day, we picked this photo because the heel of my shoes points to the Customer Service booth where we said “hello” to each other for the first time back in 1999.

Who took the photo?
Olivia Griffin and she is simply AMAZING! Here’s her website if you would like to check out her work. http://www.oliviagriffinphotography.com/ We adore her!

Love the stamp!
Thanks! I bought every single baseball stamp the Spartanburg post office had this past summer. It’s the little details. :o)

Favor Idea #4

I discovered a new cupcake shop in Spartanburg last week and I'm now looking into mini cupcakes as wedding favor. So now it’s between either the vintage candy, the eco-chic idea, petit fours and the cupcakes. Thoughts?
